JUNIOR ACCOUNTANT

We’re looking for a Junior Accountant to play a vital role in managing project finances, ensuring accurate tracking of costs and supporting client billing. This position offers practical experience in construction accounting and close collaboration with both the Finance and Project teams.
About the Role
As a Junior Accountant, you will be a key member of the Finance team, supporting the day-to-day accounting operations of the business. Your role will focus primarily on Accounts Payable, project accounting, and client invoicing, while also assisting with corporate accounting, reporting, and compliance activities. This position offers hands-on exposure to construction/project-based accounting and close collaboration with Project Managers and internal stakeholders.
What You’ll Be Responsible For
Accounts Payable
• Process vendor and contractor invoices using digital workflows and accounting systems
• Ensure invoices are accurately coded, approved, and recorded in a timely manner
• Respond to vendor enquiries in a timely and professional manner
• Process vendor EFT payments
• Process company credit card transactions and reconcile to monthly statements
• Follow up to obtain required supporting documentation for credit card transactions
Accounts Receivable & Client Invoicing
• Support the Finance team with progress billing and client invoicing requirements
• Assist with tracking invoicing status and resolving billing-related queries
Project Accounting & Internal Support
• Support Project Managers and team leaders with enquiries and financial information requests
• Assist with project-related accounting and cost tracking as required
General Accounting & Month-End Support
• Assist with corporate accounting tasks, including month-end journal entries
• Perform general ledger account reconciliations
Tax Reporting & Compliance
• Assist with corporate accounting tasks, including month-end journal entries
• Perform general ledger account reconciliations
Other Duties
• Assist with ad hoc accounting and administrative duties as assigned.
What You Bring
• One to two years of experience in a similar role
• Experience working in a construction-based company with knowledge of the construction process and the industry is an asset.
• Demonstrated experience in Microsoft Excel
• Comfortable working in a digital and paper-free environment
• Highly organized and detail oriented
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, using a professional manner and style
• Solutions-oriented with a positive mindset and can-do attitude
• Friendly and professional demeanour, with the ability to work well with others across the organization
• Self-starter with a strong work ethic, with the ability to work independently and within a dynamic team
• Previous experience with Sage accounting products and Procore, or similar is an asset.
• Working towards an accounting diploma, degree, and/or designation is an asset.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial, highly engaged, lively, and bustling office (it can get loud at times!)
